Repairing WinSock after cleaning computer from malware
After cleaning a computer from malware the internet connection might not be always working correctly. There are good and freeware utilities around that can recover your WinSock and internet connection.
For Windows XP there’s a Winsock XP Fix utility.
And for Windows 98/ME you may use Winsock2 Fix.
If you use a static IP address then you will have to manually reconfigure it after running this utility, but if you have a dynamic IP address then it will be automatically reconfigured by DHCP server.
If you need more control over WinSock functions you may try LSP-Fix. 
Another good tool that will help you to find a malware is HiJackThis. 
After analysis send a log file to online analyzer. Don’t rely 100% percent on analyzer though, good technical skills from your side are very important!
